DETAILED ITINERARY:      
       
Day 1 - Gauteng Province - Pretoria   Start of tour - Johannesburg

Welcome to South Africa, country of gold, diamonds, wild animals, unspoilt natural beauty and a larger cultural variety than in almost any other country in the world.

You will be met at the Johannesburg International Airport by a Southern Eagle Tours representative who will hand you all your travel documentation which includes accommodation vouchers, car rental vouchers and detailed maps.

A detailed route description will be done with you and you will be assisted in collecting your rental vehicle, before travelling to your accommodation just outside Pretoria, the historic capital of South Africa.
The rest of the day is free to relax in the beautiful surroundings of the hotel.

Day 2 - Mpumalanga/Limpopo Province - Kruger National Park    

Today’s route:
An early departure as you travel east through the Mpumalanga Province, descend the eastern escarpment and enter the world famous Kruger National Park.

What is a restcamp?
The word "restcamp" is a bit deceiving as it has nothing to do with "camping".  The accommodation used in the Kruger National Park are brick or stone cottages or bungalows, usually with a thatched roof.  These bungalows or cottages all have private en-suite facilities (WC, shower and wash basin) and air-conditioning.
     
       
Day 3 – Mpumalanga/Limpopo Province – Private Game Reserve    

Today's route:
The route continues to a private game reserve adjacent to the Kruger National Park.

We make use of a number of smaller and more intimate game lodges in one of the private game reserves that lie directly west of the Kruger National Park. Day 4 - Mpumalanga Province – Pilgrim’s Rest    

Today's route:
After an early morning open-vehicle game drive and breakfast you travel via the Drakensberg Escarpment, past numerous indigenous villages, commercial forests, tropical fruit and citrus plantations to the historic town of Pilgrim’s Rest.

Today’s route:
Around the southern part of the Kruger National Park, entering Swaziland through Jeppe’s Reef border post. From Jeppe’s Reef the route continues via Piggs Peak to Mbabane, the Capital of Swaziland.

Via the Lebombo Mountain range and the Golela border post into KwaZulu Natal. The route continues down the Indian Ocean coastline to The Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, a World Heritage Site.

Today’s route:
From Port Elizabeth into the famous “Garden Route” that runs along the Indian Ocean coast, as far as the picturesque town of Knysna.

The day starts with a steam train trip, and then the route goes over the Outeniqua Mountains to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world.
