What is a restcamp?
The word "restcamp" is a bit deceiving as it has nothing to do with "camping". The accommodation used in the Kruger National Park are brick or stone cottages or bungalows, usually with a thatched roof. These bungalows or cottages all have private en-suite facilities (WC, shower and wash basin) and air-conditioning. |

|
|
|
The day begins with an early morning “open vehicle” game drive, and the “hunt” for the elusive “Big Five”. During the rest of day your tour guide and vehicle is at all times available for game-viewing drives along the excellent network of well-maintained roads that exist inside the Kruger Park.

A final highlight is a night safari in an open game-viewing vehicle in search of the nocturnal inhabitants of the African bush.

We exit the Kruger Park at the southern border and cross into Swaziland, one of the last, and also smallest remaining monarchies in the world. We drive right through this tiny country and exit at the south to travel to Ithala Game Reserve, flagship of the KwaZulu-Natal Parks.
Ithala is especially well known for it’s scenic beauty, but with 4 of the “Big Five” species, also offers excellent game viewing. We have two days to explore the hills and valleys of this beautiful reserve, while meals can be enjoyed at the excellent camp restaurant.

We travel further into the heart of Zululand to the Mkuze Game Reserve. A special highlight at Mkuze is observing wildlife at close quarters from a number of hides strategically placed next to waterholes.
Mkuze is also world famous for it's astounding variety of bird species - more than 400 having been recorded. There is no restaurant in the camp, but a well stocked shop supplies the basic necessities, while freshly prepared light meals can be obtained from the Rhino-Dine-O take-away kiosk. Dinners will be in the form of a typical South African “braai” (barbecue) prepared over an open fire by your tour guide.
