Kruger Park fly-in safaris are ideal for those travellers that do not have the time for a 6-hour drive to the Kruger Park area, and prefer the much quicker alternative of a 1-hour flight. Daily flights depart directly from the Johannesburg International Airport to one of the smaller airports near the Kruger Park. This means that you can arrive in Johannesburg in the morning and be at a private game reserve, on an open-vehicle game drive, that very same afternoon.
A number of these privately owned game reserves are located along the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, the best known being the Sabi Sands, Timbavati and Thornybush Game Reserves. The Private Game Lodges, located inside these reserves, have become world renowned for the luxurious accommodation that they offer, but above all for the excellent game-viewing opportunities. Game drives are done in small groups of no more than 8 – 10, using specially adapted open 4x4 vehicles, and frequently involves "off-road" driving in order to get as close as possible to the wild animals of Africa.
A minimum 2-night stay is recommended, however, irrespective of the duration or standard of Kruger Park Fly-in safari you choose, you are assured of a game-viewing experience that will remain in your memories for many years to come.
The Kruger Park Fly-in safaris are grouped into Silver, Gold and Platinum classes, based on the standard of accommodation used, as detailed below.
