Excellent organisation, documentation and administration before and during the tour. Both lodges at Thornybush reserve were beautiful and the animals we saw in Kruger were wonderful. Dick and I just arrived back yesterday after our three week trip to South Africa. We had a most enjoyable time and the highlight after meeting up with our daughter-in-law's family in Richard's Bay was undoubtedly our trip out of Capetown with Southern Eagle. From the moment I first contacted you with regard to this trip I must say that every aspect was dealt with with the most efficiency and courtesy. The hotels/guest houses where we stayed were all superb as was the whole programme. I cannot speak highly enough of our tour guide Brian Nel. He took care of our every need especially in our case due to the fact that Dick had been through back surgery ten weeks before the trip. He was kind, considerate and helpful. His knowledge of South African history was wonderful and he was very interesting and had a great sense of humour. We shared the trip with two English couples and we all got on very well.

Thanks again Billy for arranging such a wonderful and memorable trip for us. We will certainly encourage any of our friends who might be travelling to South Africa in the future to use Southern Eagle.

Hi!

I'm just back from a Southern Eagle Tour to South Africa and it was truly a fantastic experience for so many reasons!

I was able to visit Krueger Park and on the game drives we spotted elephants, hippos, giraffes, rhinos, leopard, lions, Cape buffalo, guinea hens and antelope! We also stayed at a private game reserve where I was privileged to photograph wildlife right from the balcony of my room. I saw and photographed 3 giraffes, 2 wild boars, 2 Nyalas, several impalla and 2 baboons. It was really exciting to see them in their natural habitat and observe their behavior. As quietly as they had come they left me - just standing there in amazement.

I also loved the leisurely sundowner boat ride on the Zambezi River (Zambia)to observe hippos, crocodiles, eagles and other wildlife. But, I must say, the drive through the countryside and coastline was more breathtaking than I imagined! As we made our way along the Garden Route, I got to see the flora and fauna that South Africa is known for - and it was gorgeous!

The trip continued to get better and better, with our drive overlooking the Indian Ocean and us being able to see whales right from shore. And Cape Town, in the shadow of Table Mountain, offered so many fantastic photo opportunities I couldn't pass up.

All in all, this trip was a great combination of wildlife viewing, city sightseeing and new friends - including the proud people of South Africa. I can't thank our Tour Guide, Andre LaGrange enough for being so willing to share his knowledge and the history of his country. Now that I'm home from such an incredible trip, I am already daydreaming about my next great adventure.

First of all we would like to apologize for not having written til now. The return to our normal rythm has been hard.

We want to thank you and your organization for the wonderful holidays we have had. The thought recieved by Brian Nell in Cape Town, as well as his complete explanations, gave us a very good impression of Cape Town and sorroundings. (Could you please send me his e-mail adress, so we can send him some pictures?).

The stayings in Chobe and Xugana belong to the best we have had ever. And also the Portswood Hotel in Cape Town was excellent. Their staffs were very charming and professional. The stay in Zambezi Sun Hotel was also good, but as a bigger ressort, the attentions were different.

All in all we have leard a lot about the African nature and people. The games at Chobe and Xugana were fascinating and the guides were extremly dedicated to transmit us their passion for their environment, as well as Brian did in Cape Town. It has been fascinating to see and feel the power of the sea and its animals there. Also the Vic Falls have impressed us deeply. We have taken with us many lovely impressions. Africa has a priviledged place in our lives. We will never forget these holidays.

From the first moment we were very impressed with the professional service offered by Southern Eagle Travel. We have been very happy about all the arrangement you did make for us. Our guide / driver Norman was very friendly, very attensive , watchful - very good to travel with him. Kind regards to him and many thanks once more.

About the accomodation:

Hongonyi Game Lodge - not our favorite, not open enough for us. But very friendly people and very good food.

Olifants Restcamp - same than in 1972 our first trip to this camp. The landscape - the beautiful view over the river is the only reason to go there.

Chapungu Luxury Tented Camp - we have been very happy there.
Everything was excellent - very attensive staff, good lodgement and food and the most important - wunderful safari-trips. A place we would like to go again !

Conclusion : you did a good job - thank you.

It is a half hour away from, the river and game reserve but Zambo made it very interesting by taking us on different roads each time. There was also a "kill" this morning just south of satara, and we saw (twice) a full pride of lions just on the side of the road. It was our first time in South Africa. And thanks to Southern Eagle, it was an incredible experience. Being on a private tour is a unique opportunity to discover places and people and enjoy the scenery and the history of a country. Our guide, André, was very dedicated and helpful and he made sure that each new day was as exciting as the day before. He was really awesome. We highly recommend the safari in private game reserve. The three days in Serondella were the highlight of our stay. We saw the big five.

Back home, we are spreading the good news : a visit to South Africa is a must, with Southern Eagle it’s even better (although the 20 hour flight is something else!). We all wish to come back some day.

We just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how very much we loved our tour we booked with you to Kruger.

Martie, our guide, was great!..actually amazing...she could drive and spot animals all at the same time.She was always cheerful and pleasant and helpful...and didn't seem to mind, at all, to answer all of our (silly, repetitive) questions.We saw more animals than we had ever hoped to and could not believe how close we could get to them. Also, we loved this time of year to observe the animals (which a lot of people said was not the optimum time) because we did get to see so many
babies.......

At Hippo Hollow, we got to meet Andre, who was doing another tour.It was nice to put a face with a name, since he was the first one I had been in contact with when initially setting up the tour.

We enjoyed our accomodations, i.e. Hippo Hollow, Satara and Serondella. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.
We actually had Serondella to ourselves the second night so Marco and Vivian went with us on the evening drive.
Afterwards, Vivian had set up a "table for two" in front of the fireplace (with a roaring fire...the evenings had a bit of chill in the air). It was perfect.

The sheets made available to us to "track" the animals we saw were fun...it was like a contestWe have many "ticks" on our lists.(With Martie's bird-watching experience, she also pointed out a great many birds for us.)

It has been some time since we've returned from a really fantastically beautiful holiday in Africa. I'm just writing to thank you for doing such a wonderful job with the whole tour and giving us a superb guide who did a marvellous job showing us his 'home country'. We are still trying to get back from what now seems a dream but also one that we vividly remember. Andre was the perfect guide and when he explained things to us and gave us options we were only too glad to pass the decision back to him. And he never let us down.He's also made sure that we return to tour the rest of SA which we've missed. We sort of adopted Andre as part of our extended family and at the end it was hard to say good bye to him. We had a wonderful time in South Africa and would like to thank you for organising our tour so well.

Our guide Johan (Stegman) - good knowledge, interesting, humorous and easy going. His appearance wasalways nice and neat. We enjoyed his company and had many laughs together.

The car was nice, clean, and comfortable.

All accommodation was very good.

On the whole the organisation of the tour was excellent. We loved your choice of the Ithala Game Reserve with its fantastic scenery and the various routes mapped out for the game viewing.

Then putting us in the Hilltop Camp was a great idea, as the scenery there was so different. And the choice of the Tree Lodge was the icing on the cake. We felt like we were transported back in time - sleeping in the middle of the fever tree forest.

At the Sodwana Bay Lodge everyone was so nice and friendly and the food was very good. Diving was great too.

We hope to come to South Africa again sometime and will come straight to you to plan our journey.

Well we are back from our holiday and had such a wonderful time.I wanted to let you know that it could not have run any smoother had we tried.Everything that you organized for us was perfect.The only downside was when we got the the lodge at Chobe they were doing renovations and the pool and dining area were closed and it was 40 degrees so very hot and nowhere to cool down, but that was such a small thing and the lodge was fantastic and did such a good job in organizing the makeshift dining area.I should also tell you that Motswari Lodge was absolutely wonderful.You could highly recommend it to anyone.The Zambezi Sun in Zambia was also excellent as was Flamingo Bay Water Villas.All in all it was a wonderful wonderful holiday and both John and Heather and Fred and I said after one week that if the holiday finished then we would still go home happy.I know I have already told you how good Johan was.He certainly made that first part of the trip so much fun.He was so enthusiastic about everything and went out of his way to make sure we had the best time we could.In fact he was quite protective, the first time we went off on a game drive on our own he walked to the jeep with us and was there waiting for us when we got back.It was almost like he was sending his children off for the first time.It made us all feel quite special.

We have all decided that we want to return in 2 years time but head further north if we can.I hope that is something you will be able to organize for us.

Hello Billy,
We are safely back in NZ, slightly smarting from the shock exit of the ABs but otherwise refreshed from an excellent holiday in South Africa. I know that we filled out the feedback form but I wanted to write in addition to that to thank you for the superbly organised trip which all went without a hitch and also to express our very serious appreciation of Martie, our guide and travel companion, whose knowledge never ceased to amaze us. Nothing was too much trouble for Martie and she was great fun to be with as well, so thank you Martie. Could you ask her to let us know what we owe for the hospital appointment that no doubt she will have told you about. Also let her know that after an excruciating night the pain had eased slightly by the following morning so we were able to make it up to Livingstone, and over the following few days it gradually got better, so we enjoyed the Falls and our subsequent visit to Cape Town where we followed her recommendations pretty much to the letter.

Also you could let her know that the Premiere Classe Train was pretty much a fist class hotel on wheels and at a fraction of the cost of the Blue Train - highly recommended to any other visitors to SA. Good luck in the RWC for which you must now be favourites.

Our tour guide, Wayne Barnes, was very polite at all times and very thoughtful of what we wanted/needed.  He is very charismatic and friendly yet very professional and always respectful.  He always kept us well informed and he transmitted us his passion for nature and wildlife and that kept us even more interested.  The three night-four day safari greatly exceeded our expectations.  The organization was impeccable and all the activities were timed in such a way that they fit perfectly without stress.  The accommodations selected by Southern Eagle were great.  In each place we were treated very well and the locations were excellent.

I would like to go back to South Africa and for sure I will contact you again and maybe also if we finally decide to go to Namibia. I am an Asian lover and that was my first trip to Africa, because I only knew the North which is very different: Morocco, Tunisia. I think that now Asia will have to share my dreams with Africa!

Although I was a bit concerned about organizing my holidays via internet with such a distant country I am very happy I did so.

Since the moment I contactedSouthern Eagle, André Liebenberg was very helpful answering my endless questions, when he left the company Billy took charge of my holidays and my great surprise has been not only knowing a wonderful country as South Africa is but meeting such wonderful people as the staff of Southern Eagle is. Billy gave me all the extra information I required, Karina met us very early in the morning to give us the tickets to Livingstone and then, finally we met wonderful André (Alexander?, I don’t remember his family name), he was extremely kind, full of knowledge about the country, helpful with our heavy luggage, excellent driver and had answers to the thousand questions I asked, he also was very exact with all the extra information he gave us for the week after when we had to drive through the Garden Route.He transmitted us his love for South Africa and for wildlife and we have fallen in love with this beautiful country, full of contrasts, with extremely nice people where we have been very happy for two weeks and wish to go back in the near future. We’ve been warmly welcomed everywhere we have been to.

The organization of the trip has been excellent, everything has been as they promised and I have to say that all the accommodations have been very attractive and high quality, where it was a bit more simple at Kruger Park, Andre surprised us all with a tasty barbecue and good South African wines and enjoyable talking after dinner under the stars!.

I am sorry but I don’t have enough words in English to say how happy my holidays in South Africa have been.

I've been back for 5 days now, and wanted to send you a little more in the way of feedback and comments on the safari we had.

In one word, this was a real “lifetime” experience Jenn and I will never forget. Bravo! Wayne was great – very knowledgeable, very helpful, very flexible.

I really liked our safari - and only wish we could have stayed another day or so (the only "negative" I can say is that we did not see cheetah or leopard, and we really wanted to - but that is "luck of the draw"). South Africa is spectacular - the topography/geology is unlike anything I've ever seen, and the animal safari was "icing on the cake" so to speak. Wayne was a great tour guide - I can't say enough good things about him. He was very, very knowledgable and shared information with us in a very interesting,engaging manner. He was very courteous and flexible, tailoring the days' events to our preferences. The ride from JH up to Kruger is a long one, but after the first few hours we made some stops in very interesting locations and it broke up the trip and made it pass fairly quickly. The scenery was amazing.

Lastly, I was very fortunate and got several pictures of elephants mating on the night ride in Kruger. The Kruger guide driving the tour van that night said "this is very rare." Anyway, I have these digital pictures. If you might want them to use in your brochures or web site, let me know - I'll be glad to send them to you.

Our tours organised with Amanda Cruise went off perfectly. Julia and I had a wonderful day with her. She was very hospitable and Ron and John really enjoyed their shark dive experience. Actually I think that was the highlight of their whole trip!

This was an excellent trip, in two days we saw all the big five and many other animals. We stayed in great accommodations and our guide was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend Southern Eagle Tours to anybody who wants to experience South Africa. All the flights with Nationwide were excellent (no waiting in line, on schedule departure and arrival, good food, ...). All the transfers were excellent too, we never had to wait.

We had a very good time at Victoria Falls, the cruise was very nice and the people from the local agency were very helpful, again everything went very well. We did the Livingstone Island trip, this was fantastic, we would highly recommend it.

The hotel in the Cape was relatively simple but very nice and this is a great location within walking distance from the City Center and the Waterfront. We enjoyed both day tours, on the first day we were lucky to see a lot of whales in Simon Town and we enjoyed visiting the
wineries and the wine tasting on the second day.

Thank you again for your help in organizing this trip, we enjoyed every moment of it and are seriously thinking to come back in a few years to do Namibia.

Our guide Christiaan (Jooste) was unfailingly cheerful, prompt and professional. A very personable young man, he was our attentive guide and mentor throughout the trip. He took care of everything, so we had not one single worry. He was a great companion and an excellent driver! We have just returned home after enjoying what has simply been a fantastic holiday to SA - everything went according to plan and even the autumn weather played its part in remaining warm and sunny throughout the whole of the two weeks that we were there.

Since being met at Cape Town airport by Brian (who incidentally, was most helpful in giving us a full and concise briefing about our proposed route and the places not to miss on the way), we immediately took off to Table Mountain even though we had just stepped off the plane.... on such a clear day, the view was spectacular and one not to be missed!

We have to say that the standard of accommodation just got better and better as we went along.... particular mention should be made of the Whale Rock Lodge at Hermanus, the Residence Klein Oliphantshoek in Franschhoek, No 7 Church Street in Montagu and the Bradach Manor in Knysna... all of which were excellent in their own special way. However, as if this was not enough, our trip then culminated with one-night stays at the Fernery Luxury Chalets at Storms River and the Woodall Country Lodge at Addo, both of which are simply outstanding in every respect - the only problem being, that we wished we could have stayed for longer!

Everywhere we went, we were made to feel welcome by all those we met and that nothing was too much trouble. It was worth noting that all our hosts at the various hotels and guest houses we stayed at en route, had nothing but praise for Southern Eagle Tours and that in their opinion, you and your Company were right up there at the top with the best of them - from our point of view as tourists in another country, this observation from those in the business, simply reaffirmed our our thoughts in knowing that we had made the right decision in booking with you.

Once again, our thanks for organising such a superb and memorable holiday in such a spectacular part of the world - we have taken away many memories - one of which, was the drive over the Franschhoek Pass.... stunning yes.... but for someone who does not like heights and hairpin bends on a mountain road, I think an alternative route at a lower altitude would probably be on the cards for next time!!
