Facilities
Accommodation at the lodge is in five private, comfortable chalets, nestled in dense bush overlooking the majestic Drakensberg escarpment. The air-conditioned chalets are decorated in an elegant African style, with each item of artwork having its own story. The en-suite bathrooms include an outdoor shower as well as a luxurious outdoor bath. The magnificent views from the quaint private wooden decks on each of the chalets simply take your breath away. Enjoy a cocktail or freshly brewed cup of coffee in our sophisticated guest area. Relax in the shade on our magnificent wooden deck amongst the surrounding riparian bush. Refresh and invigorate yourself in the cool, clear waters of the rock pool or spend an afternoon browsing in our well-stocked library. Situated in a secluded, private garden that leads off the bedroom, the Honeymoon Suite's outdoor bathroom is truly magical - the perfect spot to soak in a candlelit bath beneath a canopy of stars and reflect on the day's experiences.

Activities
Each morning before the fiery sunrise paints the sky and every evening before the sun sets, an experienced, highly-qualified, field guide and tracker takes guests on unhurried game drives in our open game vehicle to seek out and get close to the Big Five and the dozens of other animal species found on the conservancy.

But a game drive at Kuname is about more than simply ticking off animals on a 'game-sighting list' and following the Big Five. With incredible bird life and century old trees, professional guides, each with an astounding knowledge of the environment, ensure that visitors become participants, rather than just spectators as they feel the rhythms of the veld. A game drive at Kuname is about getting immersed in an African bush experience. A tactile occasion.

Cuisine
Dining at Kuname is a special treat. A time to enjoy a kaleidoscope of flavours inspired by Africa but guided by the culinary traditions of Europe.

Our gourmet chef lured from one of South Africa's top restaurants ensures each meal at Kuname is an unforgettable gastronomic occasion. A barbecue with fine wines on the wooden viewing-deck or an elegant bush dinner, while you inhale the earthy scents of the African bush, will make your taste-buds soar.

Karongwe Private Game Reserve
The Karongwe Private Game Reserve comprises 8 500ha of African bushveld created by private landowners. In 1998 one decided to drop fences to be able to restore the land, which has been agricultural land, back to those conditions which are believed to constitute its natural state, maintaining the balance of species and flora and fauna. The Karongwe Association was founded in 2001 and the members are also the directors of Karongwe Game who owns and protects the animal species. Currently there are over 40 mammal species in the Reserve, including the Big Five Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo. The Reserve maintains a clean buffalo project.

The association wants to ensure the preservation of fauna, flora and animal species for the future generations. Conservation projects try constantly to achieve this goal. Community projects try to involve the natives in nature projects to help understand how important the preservation of nature is. Research projects working with overseas volunteers try to bring the importance of nature conservation into the international markets to let the world know how precious the African wildlife and nature is.

Karongwe Private Game Reserve is situated in the Arid Central Lowveld region, east of the Drakensberg Mountains in the Limpopo Province. Altitude varies from around 480 metres above sea level on the Makutswe River in the north to 560 metres above sea level at Beacon Rock in the central southern area. The landscape within the reserve is characterized by undulating terrain, interspersed with rocky outcrops. The main vegetation type is Mixed Lowveld Bushveld.
