Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1 – Mpumalanga Province - Kruger National Park

An early departure from Johannesburg as we travel east towards the Mpumalanga Province, passing through the grasslands and agricultural areas of the “Highveld”. Our journey continues via the scenic Schoemanskloof Pass into sub-tropical citrus farming areas and then onto the “Lowveld”, reaching the border of the world famous Kruger National Park around mid-day. We arrive at Sabi River Bush Lodge on the banks of the Sabi River and check into our rooms. After some time to freshen up, you head out on an afternoon safari drive into the Kruger National Park, under the guidance of your tour guide. Once inside the Park, excitement will mount as we start spotting some of the numerous animals that inhabit this magnificent wildlife sanctuary. Truly the flagship of the South African national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Just before sunset we return to the Sabi River Bush Lodge, where you can enjoy sundowners on the deck overlooking the Sabi River before enjoying a well prepared dinner at the lodge.

Day 2 – Mpumalanga Province - Kruger National Park

Today will be a special highlight as you are collected before dawn (breakfast packs will be arranged) for a full day open-vehicle safari drive in the Kruger National Park, in search of Africa’s elusive “Big Five” - Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard. Breakfast will be enjoyed at a picnic site inside the Kruger Park. We spend the day travelling inside the park, under the guidance of qualified and experienced safari rangers. During the drive the ranger’s knowledge and first-hand experience will ensure the ultimate Kruger Park wildlife safari, and you will learn of all aspects of the wilderness. See the diverse array of animals and birdlife from the tiny Steenbok to the mighty African Elephant. Birders are spoilt as the Kruger is one of the best birding regions in South Africa. We return to our lodge in the late afternoon after an exciting day game viewing in the Kruger Park. Dinner is again enjoyed at the lodge.

Day 3 - End of safari

After breakfast at the lodge we travel to nearby Hazyview, where you enjoy a guided tour at the Elephant Sanctuary. Guests are guided in small groups on foot through sanctuary, where guides will provide in-depth information and insight into the African elephant. You will be introduced to our elephants in the forest area, and here you will be able to touch and interact with the elephants. You will see the special relationship that the elephant handlers share with their elephants, and become a part of it. Walk trunk-in-hand with the elephants, learn about elephant anatomy, and have the opportunity to feed these gentle giants. Elephant-back riding is offered as an optional extra.

After the tour of the Elephant Sanctuary we travel back to Johannesburg, where you are dropped off at a location of your choice. Arrival in Johannesburg at approximately 18:00.
